What is the difference between Safety Town Camp and the Safety Town First Grade Camp?

Both camps will explore the same safety topics and complete the same activities. Campers will go to field trips to the New Albany Police Department, the Plain Township Fire Department, and the Plain Township Aquatic Center. The Safety Town Camp is an eight-day camp that runs from 8:30-11:30/12:30-3:30. The first grade camp option is for campers that are entering first grade in the fall of 2024 (and have not previously attended Safety Town Camp). The first grade option is an extended camp day. It runs for five days from 8:30-1:30.

Children should also be able to pedal a small four-wheel bike. Children not able to do both should not attend this year.

Please contact the camp director at safetytown@newalbanypolice.org to request to have the registration moved.

Please Do Not sign up for multiple sessions as we do not provide refunds for duplicate registrations.

Do I drop off my child or do I need to stay for the duration of camp?

We ask that all campers be escorted into the Early Learning Center. You will enter the building from the side parking lot entrance and drop your child off in their classroom. You will meet your child's teacher in the classroom. You will then leave and return to pick up your child from the classroom. You will sign him/her out for the day. You will have the opportunity to designate who is authorized to pick up your child during the registration process.

Are there make-up classes?

Unfortunately, there are no make-up classes. If there are handouts from a missed class, your child will be given them on the day he/she returns.

What if I want to register my child for a Safety Town Camp session and do not see it online?

Once sessions are full, they will not be visible as a choice when registering. Camp fills up very fast and we encourage you to plan ahead and register as soon as possible.

May my child attend more than one session in the same year?

No. Your child may attend only 1 session per summer. Safety Town is an extremely popular program and each year all sessions fill to capacity. Moreover, we think that re- enforcement of the safety lessons taught during camp are best done the following year in Graduate Camp rather than in consecutive sessions the same year.
