This year we will offer camp June 12th - June 22nd Monday - Thursday each week and we will offer both am (8:30am-11:30am) and pm (12:30pm – 3:30pm) classes.
Safety Town is held at the New Albany-Plain Local K-1 Elementary building at 5101 Swickard Woods Boulevard New Albany OH 43054.
No, we welcome campers from all states and cities at no additional cost. In fact, each year we have 40-55% of our campers who reside outside of New Albany.
Children must be 5 years of age on or before August 1, 2017 and entering kindergarten or first grade in the Fall of 2017. This two week camp is for children who are attending a safety town camp for the first time. If your child has already completed New Albany Safety Town, please register your child for the New Albany Safety Town Graduate Camp. In addition, children should be able to sit still and quietly for up to 20 minutes while the teachers provide instruction in a classroom and while community partners do their presentations. Children should also be able to pedal a small four-wheel bike. Children not able to do both should not attend this year.
No. We have created the Graduate Camp for any camper who has already completed Safety Town Camp. Of course if you think you have an exception please contact the camp director to discuss further at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to registration as we do not offer refunds.
Online registration opens Saturday, March 4, 2017 and will close Saturday, April 8, 2017. The cost of the camp is $85 and includes all classroom materials used, a bike helmet, tote bag, bike light, t-shirt and use of safety town’s bikes. The cost also includes field trips to the New Albany Police Station and the Plain Township Fire Station.
Once sessions are full, they will not be visible as a choice when registering.
No. Your child may attend only 1 two-week session per Summer. Safety Town is an extremely popular program and each year all sessions fill to capacity. Moreover, we think that re- enforcement of the safety lessons taught during camp are best done the following year in graduate camp rather than in consecutive sessions the same year.
Unfortunately, there are no make-up classes. If there are handouts from a missed class, your child will be given them on the day he/she returns.
